Elemental Touch — Jessie Zhai

Elemental Touch is an interactive art installation made with Arduino, TouchDesigner, and four ceramic vessels. Inspired by craftsmanship and ceramic textures, I created four ceramic vessels to represent the four natural elements used in ceramics. When a vessel is held from the outside, it lights up from the inside and triggers the corresponding visual to change forms depending on the length of the touch. The project is meant to invite viewers to experience ceramic pieces in non-traditional ways and to explore new ways to integrate organic mediums with electronic components.

The project was also exhibited at Powerhouse Arts as part of the “Method” ceramic showcase.
